See, what I was writing 3 years ago, in January 2008, right after coming back from Minneapolis and my first real winter experience. It was also the time Will proposed (for the first time) and I went back to Athens to announce to all my friends that it’s something they ACTUALLY do, it’s not just in the movies.LOL.

Take a look:

In case you are wondering what I’ve been doing with myself these days, here is an update:

Let’s start with the trip back to the US and the two weeks we spent in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

1. Mr. Right proposed and I said yes. Rumor has it I said “yes, please” but we are not sure.

He had planned it beautifully, made me think we were going for a walk around the farm and then we found a box of Cracker Jacks (see Breakfast at Tiffany’s) in his childhood hiding place and then we found a purple ring in the box and then he was on his knees. I can’t stop smiling since then.

2. Went skiing, ice skating, hiking in the snow, bonded with horses, made a snowman, snow angels and a fool of myself slipping on ice all the time. And I have the pictures to prove it.

3. Spent two weeks in a fur coat, thanking every moment of it the dead animal that kept me alive in freezing Minneapolis.

4. Took lots of silly pictures.

5. I met Mr. Right’s family and now they are my new favorite people. They are fun and polite and smart and giving and now I know how he came out so perfect.

6. Went to my first masquerade ball on NYE and danced folk dances and laughed out loud and it was the goodbye party of a year that has been the best and the worst of my life.

7. Went to the biggest mall in the US and came back to Greece with extra suitcases again.

I’m giggling. I’m happy. I spend 20 minutes every morning saying goodbye to him. I spend another 20 minutes in the metro daydreaming about him. I read the rest of the ride. I read books about death and the meaning of life.

I keep thinking that if this was the last day of my life I wouldn’t go to the office. I used to love my job. When I first started I loved it so much that I would work even if it was the last day of my life.
Now it feels like a waste of time. And yes, it felt like this even when I was still smoking. Oh, I didn’t tell you about this. I’M NOT A SMOKER ANY MORE. And life can be difficult for people who try to quit smoking in Athens. But I have all the support I need. Didn’t I tell you that Mr. Right is the best thing that happened to me the last 28 years?

Tuesdays with Morrie– read it.
